Prudenville is located at the Southeastern end of Houghton Lake in Roscommon County at the junction of M-55 and M-18. It is primarily a tourist area on the shores Houghton Lake, and has many resorts, restaurants and gift shops. It was founded in 1875 by John Pruden, one of the first to settle in the area.
