There are 294 steps down to the Spring which has been used continuously as a drinking source since pre settlement times. It was long considered a sacred place by Chippewa Indians who believed the springs held curative powers. There is an observation deck as well as a boardwalk at the bottom of the stairs.
Access: Take the River Road Scenic Byway west of Oscoda about 18 miles.
